Queen warns media over paparazzi pictures of royals

blog 6
summary:
The Royal family has always had an uneasy relationship with the paparazzi. There is a growing frustration about intrusion into the private lives of the royals and their friends. The queen has warned newspapers not to publish private pictures of the Royal Family.. From now on lawyers can take legal action against “intrusive and unacceptable” behavior of freelance cameramen. There are several reasons for the warning of the queen. Lately there were photographs of Prince Edward hitting his dog and young royals “falling out of nightclubs”. Also William was concerned after his girlfriend Kate Middleton hounded by the paparazzi in 2007 her treatment has parallels with that off princes Diana. The new rules will be tested this month when the queen enjoys her Christmas break. Anti-monarchist group Republic is not satisfied they said photographs involving issues over animal cruelty and inappropriate behavior of young royalties should be published.

Reaction:
I think we all know that the British Royals has always been a target for the paparazzi. I have seen many documentaries about princess Diana and the way her life was affected by the press and if the queen is not doing anything about this. Kate Middleton will also become an obsession for the press. I think it is a good decision. I think it is not necessarily relevant that the people in the UK can see the inappropriate pictures. It is maybe not good behavior. But people of the Royal family are humans and everyone make mistakes.

  1. I would not call it an "uneasy relationship", because the Royal Family has been aware of the power of photographs and they have been given great access to the media. But the reputation of the British tabloid papers (especially the ones published by Rupert Murdoch who hates the Royal Family) is so bad that they became synonymous for intrusive behaviour all over the world.

No one, not even members of the Royal Family, should allow their methods to obtain a photo.

  2. I think that the royal family deserve privacy just like anyone else, however they are the royal family so they should know that the citizens of the UK are interested in what is going on with them. Being a Royal family bring a lot of lack of privacy.

  3. I think the royal family deserves privacy but people want to know things about their lives. It is interesting for them and of course it is not fun when people see the mistakes they made but the royal family is a role model for the people in the country. But when the lifes of royalties will be to affected by the press, the paparazzi has to do a step back.
